Fran’s Welcome Week at The Edge

Now that Welcome Week is over (boo hoo!) I thought I’d tell you all about what a week of IconInc events is really like for a new resident.

Movie night

I was feeling a bit shy at the beginning of the week because everything was new but heading along to the movie and pizza Monday event helped me get to know some of the other students. I felt a lot less nervous by the end of the evening. We watched Extinction, which is about a guy who can see into the future and sees his planet being invaded but because of his gift he knows how to survive when the invasion actually happens. Then we watched Dr Strange which is the amazing marvel movie and my personal favourite – I'm a sucker for super hero movies! The last film we binged on was We're the Millers, a great comedy that everyone could have a good laugh at. The cinema room was really cosy with all those comfy chairs, I'm surprised I didn't fall asleep! One of the best bits of the evening was a delivery from MOD pizza. I had asiago cheese on my pizza – it was so stringy and delicious. I’ll definitely be ordering from MOD again.

Garden to glass masterclass

My next event was a cocktail masterclass with the lovely guys from Seedlip. It was interesting to learn what a cocktail shrub is (I had no idea before!). It’s basically a mix of fruit and/or veg, sugar, vinegar and water that’s used to flavour cocktails. My cupboard is now stocked up for anyone who wants a sneaky treat in their G&T and it helps me to use up bits of fruit and veg that would have previously gone to waste. I was really impressed with the Seedlip masterclass!
