Got a deadline dilemma or need an agony aunt to talk to? That’s where our 24 hour concierges can help you out. They’re on standby no matter the time of day or night, to make your life that little bit easier. Meet Pete, one of our 24 hour concierges based at [The Ascent](https://www.iconinc.co.uk/locations/liverpool-the-ascent) in Liverpool:

Q: How long have you worked at IconInc, The Ascent?

Pete: I’ve been working at IconInc for six months now.

Q: Describe a typical day as an IconInc concierge.

Pete: Each day is different for me but always enjoyable. I like to start a shift with an Assam tea and a gossip with the students. Often I’ll have a showing booked in so I’ll take students and their parents around the place and show them the facilities. I like to see their faces when they see IconInc for the first time – it’s a world away from what you imagine when you think of student accommodation! In fact, I think the parents are often a little bit jealous that they won’t be living here. We’re definitely a support system for our students while they’re away from home. Sometimes I’m a shoulder to cry on if someone’s feeling homesick, and other times I’m giving advice about studies and some extra encouragement. I just want to see our students live their best lives.

Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?

Pete: I love everything about this job, from my work colleagues and the benefits we receive, to the people we get to meet on a daily basis.

Q: What’s the craziest thing you’ve got involved in at IconInc?

Pete: Every day is a crazy day when you’re a 24 hour concierge! One minute it can be nice and calm, and the next minute you have 20 firemen in reception. Don’t worry, they were here to familiarise themselves with the building, that’s all.

Q: Which IconInc facility would you have liked to have in your university accommodation?

Pete: Do I have to pick one? I’d have definitely hit the gym in the morning, followed by the steam room and sauna. Then the cinema in the evening with friends.
