Leeds was voted the best place to drink in England by the Observer, and it’s also the birthplace of many popular bands such as the very successful Alt J.     If a heavy night out drinking is not your thing, Leeds has plenty of other alternatives. Being a cultural and vibrant city, there are plenty of other ways to spend your evening. From ballet and opera to live music and comedy, Leeds has it all. See ballet, opera and dance shows at the Leeds Grand Theatre, The Carriageworks Theatre and the West Yorkshire Playhouse.

    Comedy


    Those who love live comedy can have a laugh at popular comedy venues such as the HiFi Club, Jongleurs, Leeds Town Hall and Pryzm, which is home to the Jason Manford Comedy Club. Many big comedians had their break at some of these venues in Leeds.

    Bars, pubs and clubs


    Enjoy some epic nights out at some of the big nightclubs and bars in Leeds. Call Lane is a good place to go for a lively night out, here you will find a bar to suit your taste in music. It’s a popular social hub and area for students.

    For a slightly more low key night, a great place to go to grab a pint is Briggate, which has cobbled streets and more relaxed pubs and bars. More upscale places to go for drinks and cocktails include the Arena Quarter and Millennium Square.

    After three years studying in Leeds, many students appreciate the nightlife so much that they choose to stay in the city after graduating, and it’s not hard to see why. Leeds is very versatile when it comes to evening entertainment, and caters to all different tastes.

    If you enjoy big nights out then you will feel right at home, but those who enjoy more relaxed evening entertainment will also be satisfied. This is a city that is well-known for its nightlife and huge variety of things to do. Spend an evening out in Leeds and you will soon discover what all the fuss is about.
