There’s no room here for that toxic and all-too-often-used phrase, ‘New Year, new you’. But we’re all about using the beginning of the year as a gentle reminder to make steps towards achieving the things that have been niggling for a while. To keep you on the straight and narrow with your New Year’s resolutions (because we know it’s tempting to stop being strict with yourself now that exams are drawing to an end), we asked your ambassadors to share their resolutions with you:

    Helen from The Edge

There’s a few things I want to work on this year. One aim is to keep on top of my work and not leave essays until the last minute (Every. Time. Why?). I’d also like to go to the gym at least three times a week, to improve my fitness, thank goodness there’s one only a few steps from my apartment at [The Edge](https://www.iconinc.co.uk/locations/leeds-the-edge)! I’m hoping to cook more often too and, most important of all, I’m going to be happy and proud of who I am.

    Fiona from The Ascent

My New Year’s resolution is to reduce the amount of time I spend on my phone. Coursework and exams are proving a good distraction at the moment but I can’t decide if that’s good or bad! The main thing is to reduce the time I spend on my phone during the evenings. I’d like not to look at my phone at all in the evening, eventually, but for now I’m trying to not go on it in the hour before I go to sleep.

    Harry from The Edge

I’d like to dedicate more time to my hobbies this year – it’s so important to make time to do the things you love the most. Spending less money on takeaways and cooking more is also top of my list for 2019. And I’d like to work on improving my wellbeing and mental health.
